Journal Article 2024 09 08 In epistemology, human cognitions are accompanied by limitations and errors. The error possibility in understanding the truth is one of the cases that justify the truth of tolerance. This study examines tolerance from its epistemological aspect using an analytical method based on the traditional hermeneutic views of Ayn al-Qud'at al-Hamadani. In this paper, we seek to answer the fundamental question of how Ayn al-Qud'at al-Hamadani justified epistemic tolerance in his traditional hermeneutic perspective. The findings indicate that, in Ayn al-Qud'at's thought, individuals are at different levels of epistemology. Even for a complete mystic in a state beyond reason knowing the truth is impossible, let alone for those stuck in the state of reason. On the other hand, the transmission of knowledge is also not possible, except through similar words; its understanding is also different due to linguistic limitations and restrictions in audience understanding. Therefore, this possibility of error and the existence of limitations in knowing the truth can be considered the most important factor justifying tolerance; it results in "cognitive humility", which manifests itself for the mystic as "astonishment", and for the non-mystic, in "interpretation", which paves the way towards changeability, which is the product of admitting epistemic impotence. در حوزۀ معرفت شناسی، شناخت های انسان با محدودیت و خطا همراه است. امکان خطا در درک حقیقت، یکی از مواردی است که صدق رواداری را توجیه می‌کند. هدف پژوهش حاضر، بررسی رواداری از وجه معرفت‌شناختی آن به روش تحلیلی و مبتنی بر آرای هرمنوتیک سنتی عین‌القضات همدانی است. در این نوشتار، در پی پاسخ به این سؤال اساسی هستیم که عین القضات همدانی در دیدگاه هرمنوتیک سنتی خویش، چگونه به توجیه رواداری معرفتی پرداخته است. یافته‌های پژوهش حاکی از آن است که در اندیشۀ عین القضات، افراد در سطوح مختلف معرفتی قرار دارند. حتی برای عارف کامل در طور ورای عقل نیز، امکان شناخت حقیقت ممکن نیست، چه رسد به کسانی که در طور عقل متوقف مانده‌اند. از سوی دیگر انتقال معرفت نیز، جز به‌واسطه الفاظ متشابه، ممکن نیست؛ که فهم آن نیز، به‌واسطه محدودیت‌های زبانی و فهم مخاطبان متفاوت است. بنابراین، همین امکان خطا و وجود محدودیت در شناخت حقیقت را می‌توان مهم‌ترین عامل توجیه رواداری به‌شمار آورد، که نتیجه آن «فروتنی معرفتی» است، که برای عارف در مقام «حیرت»، و برای غیرعارف، در «تأویل»، خود را نشان می‌دهد، که راه را به‌سوی دگرپذیری، که محصول اقرار بر ناتوانی معرفتی است، هموار می‌کند. https://jllr.usb.ac.ir/article_9060_74fd30f4a7b24f1c1e21954e744c1880.pdf
