Nima Yooshij’s poem Afsaneh, as one of the early examples of transformation in modern Persian poetry, employs a symbolic and psychological structure to express the inner experiences of the human psyche. This study, drawing on Carl Gustav Jung’s analytical psychology, explores the representation of the hero’s psychological journey and inner transformation in the poem. The central research question examines how Jungian archetypes-such as the Hero and the Anima-reflect the stages of the hero’s psychological journey and contribute to his path toward self-awareness. The research method is descriptive-analytical, with a focus on the concepts of the collective unconscious and Jungian symbolism. Findings indicate that the hero, through encounters with emotional and social challenges, moves toward the integration of opposing aspects of the psyche. Along this path, Jungian archetypes serve as guiding forces, and the poem’s structure mirrors the phases of the hero’s inner journey. By analyzing Afsaneh through the lens of Jungian theory, this study offers a fresh understanding of the psychological dimensions in the works of Nima Yooshij and highlights their role in articulating the evolution of modern Persian poetry.
