The Vis and Ramin epic, penned by Fakhruddin As'ad Gurgani, exemplifies classic Persian romantic narrative literature, depicting human relationships, emotions, and decisions amidst a backdrop of instability and unpredictable transformations. This research analyzes the nonlinear structure of this narrative using Edward Lorenz's Chaos Theory. Nonlinear structure refers to a narrative where events do not unfold sequentially or predictably, and minor actions, such as a glance or a simple decision, can lead to profound and far reaching consequences in the story's progression. Chaos Theory, initially applied in physics and meteorology to analyze unstable systems, was later adopted in the humanities to explain evolving patterns within social and cultural systems. In this article, the theory is employed as an analytical tool to understand the chaotic dynamics in romantic narrative literature. This study, utilizing a qualitative analytical approach, identifies and analyzes five key components of Chaos Theory sensitivity to initial conditions, self organization, the edge of chaos, fractal behavior, and strange attractors within the narrative of Vis and Ramin. The findings indicate that love, decision making, and emotional responses operate in a complex and chaotic manner within this epic.
